October 2006:  Tag # 508   Breed: Brangus X    DOB: 2001

Cow 508 was born to an old F1 Brahman X cow here on the farm in 2001 and was sired by an Angus Bull.  This cow has weaned 4 calves for Shadydale Farm, all of them being about average.  What makes her extra special is her cow family.  Cow 840 is this cow’s dam.  She is a 12 year old cow still producing on the farm with 5 daughters producing along side her, including cow 508.  Cow 840 also has 3 granddaughters producing on the farm.

September 2006:       Tag # 6380      Breed: ¾ Angus x ¼ Braford X         DOB: 2003

Heifer 6380 just weaned her first calf which was 140 pounds above herd average.  This heifer’s 1st calf died.  When she delivered her first calf another 1st calf heifer delivered right in front of her and we could not convince her that her calf was her’s.  She is out of cow 030, another high quality home grown cow, so we decided to keep 6380.  On her second try at motherhood all went as nature intended and we are very proud of the product she weaned for us this year.

August 2006:      Tag # 553    Breed: Brangus X     DOB: 2001

January 2006: Tag #532   Breed: Brangus X   DOB: 2001

Cow 532 was born to an old F1 Brahman X cow here on the farm in 2001 and was sired by Angus Bull.  The steer pictured weaned at 714 pounds, 155 pounds above the average of his contemporary group.  The steer was sired by a Simmental Bull.  In 2004, cow 532 weaned a calf, her first, weighing 736 pounds.  She is just another example of the quality genetics we continually work to improve here at Shadydale Farm.

December 2005: Tag #6324   Breed: Angus X Braford   DOB: 2003

Heifer 6324 just weaned her first calf(pictured), a 614# steer, while her contemporary group of 1st calf heifers weaned an average of 517#.  Heifer 6324 is a replacement female raised on the farm out of cow 180, a registered Braford from Adams Ranch, FL, and one of Shadydale Farm’s quality Angus Herd Bulls.  Over the last 3 years cow 180 has weaned 3 heifers weighing 630#, 588#, and 656#.  Her 2003 heifer is this heifer # 6324, her 2004 heifer is due to calve any time, and her 2005 heifer is currently in our heifer development program.

November 2005: Tag #063   Breed: Brangus X   DOB: 2000

September 2005

Cow 413 was purchased from Applewood Farm in 1997.  She is currently 14, born in 1991.  In September she will wean her 9th calf in 9 years for Shadydale Farm.  Her previous 3 calves weaned at 654, 680, and 720 pounds, 100 to 170 pounds above herd average.  Cow 413 keeps getting better with age and this year’s calf, pictured, will continue that tradition.
